What Do Your Customers Want From Your Company Website?

When you build a company website, it is important to focus on building a positive customer experience. Visitors to your website will likely have an intention or purpose for visiting. Maybe they have a question, want to contact you, are researching a future purchase, or contemplating how and when to visit your location.

No matter what the customer is looking for, there are four elements that every customer expects from a quality business website:

Speed
Does your home page load quickly or does it take a while for all the images and text to appear on screen? If your website is loading slowly it may drive customers away. A slow loading website can also indicate low quality to search engines. This can lower your standings in the search engine rankings.

Ease-of-Use

The best business websites have a clear, simple navigation menu and are easy to use. When a visitor gets to your home page it’s best to give them only a few main paths or options for navigation. Giving the customer too much choice or putting too much information right up front can be overwhelming and confusing.

Accuracy

Be sure the information on your business website is updated and accurate. Accuracy is crucial for establishing trust with the customer. If you list your store hours as 8am to 5pm and a customer arrives at 9am to find your location closed, that customer will be unhappy. Go through the content on your site about every three months to see if product or location information needs updating.

Answers

When customers visit your website, they are most likely looking for an answer to a question. One way to address customer questions is through a frequently asked questions (FAQ) page. An FAQ page can be part of your main navigation and help customers to find what they are looking for quickly. Include your email and phone number on the FAQ page so that a customer can contact you in case their question is not listed on your site.
