When is the last time you thought about your website’s Contact Us page? Do you even have a Contact Us page? If you have a form on the page, have you tested it recently?
Contact Us pages are a key channel for website visitors to get in touch with your organization to ask questions or make a purchase. Yet many website owners do not put enough thought or time into perfecting the Contact Us page. Below we’ll review a few best practices for creating contact pages that work:

Link to your Contact Us page.

If a customer is on your site and has a question that is preventing them from making a purchase, then you want to make it easy for the customer to contact you. Businesses with difficult to find contact pages may lose customers. Add “contact us” as part of your main website navigation so that a customer can get in touch quickly and easily.

Include a form AND your contact information.

It is best to provide a contact form in addition to your business email, phone number, address, and social media links. Providing every method of contact allows the customer to choose his or her preferred channel. Maybe they like the direct approach of calling on the phone, or maybe they are more of an email person. Give the customer the choice.

Add a map with your location(s).

For those customers searching for your business on a mobile device, add a Google map with your location. This allows the website visitor to see how far they currently are from your location and even get walking or driving directions to stop by.

Ensure timely follow-ups.

Put a plan in place for responding to any contact requests. It is best to respond within hours to a contact request or in one or two business days at the most. To ensure timely responses, use your main phone number and a catchall email address, such as “[email protected]” which can forward a contact request to several key members of the staff for follow up.
